High School Sophomore Designs STEM Expo logo

Julia Borkowski, a Colonie Central High sophomore and member of the Graphics Club, (pictured above left) was the winning designer for the Greater Capital Region STEAM Exposition’s logo (shown above right). Students in the Graphics Club, advised by Justin Defazzio and Christine Festin, were asked to design a logo that incorporated Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics and the interdisciplinary nature of STEAM.

Julia chose to represent Science with a chemical molecule, Technology with a computer chip and circuit, Engineering with gears, Arts with a paintbrush, and Mathematics with the Pi symbol.  Additionally, she linked all of these symbols to show the connection between all five disciplines. Julia’s design is featured on the STEAM Expo’s website, is used in all promotional materials, and will represent the STEAM Expo annually.
