District Appoints Two New Administrators

South Colonie Schools has appointed two new administrators for the 2017-18 school year.

Timothy Fowler is the new Director of Special Education, replacing Patrick Gunner who recently retired after serving the district for nearly 20 years. James Lovett has been appointed to a new position of Supervisor of Instructional Technology and Innovation, where he will oversee academic offerings for students related to Instructional Technology, and ongoing professional development for staff members.

Fowler has 16 years of experience in education, 10 years as a school administrator. He comes from the Albany City School District where he served as Interim Director of Pupil Personnel Services since 2016, and Assistant Director of Special Education. He was also Principal of the Thomas O’Brien Academy of Science and Technology from 2008-2013. He earned a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration, a master's degree in School Psychology, and a bachelor's degree in Psychology, all from the College of St. Rose in Albany.

Lovett comes to the district from Ballston Spa where he was Coordinator of K-12 Instructional Technology since 2010. Prior to that he worked as a K 12 Instructional Technologist and a teacher for the Albany City School District. He earned a Certificate of Advanced Studies in School District Leadership and School Building Leadership and a master's degree in Secondary Education from the College of St. Rose in Albany. He also earned a bachelor's degree in History from the State University at Albany.
