january 2017Thank you to all who helped to make the third annual South Colonie iCARE chili cookoff a fun and highly successful event. This inclues the student volunteers, the adult volunteers, the judges, the participating emergency response agencies and the many, many community members who came out to enjoy chili, conversation and good old fashioned fun. We certainly had a wide variety of samples this year and a larger number of participating agencies. It's always reassuring to see an event like this continue to grow and spread through our community. This year we had more than 350 people enjoy the evening (including our volunteers) and iCARE raised nearly $2,500. That money goes to help the two local agencies iCARE has dedicated its efforts toward this year: The Homeless and Travelers Aid Society (HATAS) and Interfaith Partnerships for the Homeless. The Judge's Chili Champions Trophy winners were: 3rd Place Verdoy (N), 2nd Place West Albany (A) and 1st Place Colonie Senior Center (J). The At-Large "People's Choice" Award Winner was Stanford Heights (F) for the second year in a row. Thank you one and all for your continued support in making our Colonie community shine as committed difference-makers.
