ICARE hosts opening assembly; Encourages students to "Transform Your Community"
The Colonie Central High School (CCHS) student-led ICARE group kicked off the school year with an inspiring opening assembly centered around this year’s theme: “Transform Your Community.” The event aimed to lay the foundation for a year of involvement, awareness, and positive change, encouraging students to take an active role in shaping the school environment.
During the assembly, students were introduced to the 39 clubs offered at CCHS, showcasing the many ways they can get involved in school activities and connect with their peers. The event emphasized the idea that transforming the community begins with participation and engagement.
“We hope that this opening assembly increases awareness, opens up communication, and enhances our students’ sense of self-worth and belonging here at CCHS,” said associate principal Melissa Judge. “If students want to transform their community, they need to join their community!”
The assembly was also marked by the exciting appearance of the school’s new mascot, the wolf, symbolizing the school's rebranding to the Colonie Wolf Pack. The wolf’s debut was met with enthusiasm, adding an element of excitement as the school continues to embrace its new identity.
Through this opening assembly, CCHS set a positive tone for the year, reinforcing the importance of student participation, communication, and a strong sense of community.
