Sand Creek hosts first Welcome Breakfast for incoming fifth-grade families
On Saturday, Sept.7, Sand Creek Middle School hosted its first-ever "Welcome to Sand Creek Breakfast," a new tradition designed to engage and support families of fifth graders as they embark on their middle school experience at Sand Creek.
Fifth grade families and students enjoyed a complimentary breakfast served by building principal Mr. Marohn and fifth grade associate principal Mr. Vardaro. In addition to the breakfast, families participated in a variety of activities, including a building walkabout, a back-to-school photo station, and a fun student-led interview where students asked family members about their own middle school experiences.
The event provided a warm and welcoming environment, allowing families to connect with staff and get acquainted with the school. "When we welcomed the families, we wanted to make sure that we stressed the importance of a positive home-school partnership," said Marohn. "We also wanted to make sure that we had the chance to serve our families and students and to stress that we are all here to support them in their transition to middle school."
This special event is set to become an annual tradition, helping future fifth grade families feel welcomed and supported as part of the Sand Creek community.
