South Colonie names Behrle as Colonie Central High School Principal
On Tuesday, April 9, South Colonie Board of Education announced the appointment of William Behrle as the next Executive Principal for Colonie Central High School effective July 1, 2024. This decision coincides with the promotion of the current principal, Thomas Kachadurian, who will transition to the role of Assistant Superintendent for Instruction in July.
Bringing a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to education, Behrle joins South Colonie from Coxsackie-Athens, where he has successfully served as the high school principal since 2021. His tenure at Coxsackie-Athens, along with his previous roles as assistant principal and summer school principal at Lansingburgh high school, as well as teaching experience at Albany City School District, provide him with invaluable insights into administration and classroom leadership
"We are thrilled to welcome Bill to our dedicated leadership team," said Superintendent David Perry. "His extensive experience and dedication to student success make him the ideal candidate to lead Colonie Central High School into the future."
Behrle's appointment has received board approval during the recent board of education meeting, setting the stage for his official confirmation and assumption of duties on July 1. In his new role, Behrle will collaborate closely with faculty, staff and students to continue fostering the tradition of excellence at CCHS.
"I am excited about the opportunity to serve as executive principal of CCHS,” said Behrle. “I firmly believe that a collaborative approach among teachers, parents, and administrators is essential for creating a supportive school community where every student can reach their full potential. I look forward to collaborating with the team to continue fostering a culture of mutual respect and academic excellence.”
Behrle holds a Certificate in Administration, specializing in both Building Level (K-12) and District Level (K-12), from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. He earned a Master of Science in Education from The College of St. Rose and a Bachelor of Science degree in Childhood Education (grades 1-6) from the same institution. Behrle also possesses New York State Professional Certification in Childhood Education.
"We look forward to welcoming Bill and working alongside him as he transitions to this new role," added Superintendent Perry.
