5/22: Community Update: Construction begins on capital work

Dear South Colonie Families,

We are pleased to announce that construction has commenced, marking the start of significant enhancements to our school facilities. This development is a major step forward in improving our infrastructure and providing a better environment for our students and community.

Important notice for students and community members
As part of this project, construction on the new turf field at the high school has begun. The track and Ambrosio field complex is closed and off-limits until the work is completed.

A designated pathway has been created allowing walkers to travel safely from Roessleville to the High School. We kindly ask everyone to use this pathway and avoid the construction zones for their safety and the safety of the workers.

Additionally, work will begin on the high school classrooms and MUG at the end of school year. As a result, construction areas will be closed off and parking will be limited. Please pay attention to these designated areas when you are on campus.

Student safety reminder
We have observed that students walk near the track area. During the construction period, these students will need to use the provided alternate pathway. Safety is our top priority, and adhering to these changes is crucial.

Other site work
Shaker Road will begin construction of the new bus loop and parking lot at the end of June. The whole campus will be closed for the summer including the playgrounds. We encourage families to take this opportunity to check out our new playground across the district at the other elementary schools.

As part of the district’s ongoing maintenance schedule, Sand Creek’s parking lot and sidewalk will be resurfaced in August. As part of the Next Generation Capital project, there is also stormwater management work being done by the tennis courts. Therefore, access to parking throughout the summer may be limited.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work to improve our school's facilities. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school administration.

Thank you for your continued support.

Dr. David Perry
