Sand Creek activates HOPE during Suicide Prevention Month
On Friday, Sept. 20, Sand Creek Middle School hosted Sweethearts & Heroes, a dynamic program aimed at spreading HOPE (Hold On, Possibilities Exist) and teaching students and educators how to foster compassion, empathy, and positive action. The visit was part of National Suicide Prevention Month, and it offered an inspiring message to prevent hopelessness, bullying, and suicide through human interaction skills.
The event featured two extraordinary “capeless superheroes” who engaged students and staff with impactful presentations and activities. By focusing on empathy, teamwork, and compassionate communication, Sweethearts & Heroes empowered the school community to become agents of positive change within their classrooms and beyond.
“Having Sweethearts & Heroes in our school is always an incredible experience for our students,” said Sand Creek Principal Michael Marohn. “Their message of HOPE resonates with our students, and I believe it helps to foster a more compassionate and connected environment here at Sand Creek. We are grateful for their visit and its impact on our school community.”
The event concluded with students feeling inspired and equipped with practical skills to create a culture of empathy and support. Sand Creek Middle School continues to emphasize the importance of mental health and student well-being, reaffirming its commitment to creating a positive and inclusive environment for all.
