Howl with the Pack: ICARE’s Halloween High to Support SHIP
Colonie Central High School is excited to host its annual Halloween High on Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m., and the whole community is invited! Sponsored by ICARE, this family-friendly evening is the perfect way to celebrate Halloween, complete with costumes, festive activities, and lots of spooky fun.
“Halloween High has become a cherished tradition at Colonie High School,” said Associate Principal and ICARE advisor Melissa Judge. “The English and Social Studies wings transform into a Halloween wonderland, with each classroom offering a unique activity hosted by different student clubs. From festive decorations to interactive games and treats, there’s something for everyone. It’s a great opportunity for children to enjoy Halloween in a safe and creative environment while giving back to the community.”
The event is designed with elementary school students in mind, but middle schoolers are welcome to join in on the fun too. Each high school club will decorate their assigned classrooms with spooky themes and host activities like scavenger hunts, glow sticks, games, crafts, nail painting, and potion-making! All activities will cost just $1 per child.
This year, proceeds from Halloween High will support ICARE’s charity partner for the 2024-25 school year, the Albany County Sheriff’s Homeless Improvement Program (SHIP). SHIP is a vital initiative that helps former inmates reintegrate into society by providing resources such as job interview preparation, budgeting lessons, and life skills training. By equipping participants with these essential tools, SHIP helps them rebuild their lives and get back on track.
“Halloween High is one of our favorite events here at Colonie High because it brings together our students, staff, and the community for a night of fun and creativity,” added Judge. “The enthusiasm our clubs show in designing these activities truly embodies the spirit of Colonie Wolf Pack pride. We can't wait to see the community come out and enjoy this fantastic event!"
