Shaker Road Elementary kicks off 14th annual "No-Shave November" for prostate cancer awareness
For the 14th year in a row, the dedicated men of Shaker Road Elementary have teamed up with Principal Dollard for "No-Shave November," raising awareness for men’s health and supporting the fight against prostate cancer.
“Annually, the day after Halloween is celebrated with a clean shave and then the razor gets put away for the rest of the month,” said principal Dollard. “ Every year we partner with ZERO- The End of Prostate Cancer as a way to spread awareness and generate support for their work.”
This year, the school has four brave men participating in this annual event: Mr. Jesmain (Art), Mr. McCulloch (PE) and Mr. Mike (custodian) join Mr. Dollard in 2024.
“The students are always thrilled to follow our beard-growing progress,” Dollard added. “They love checking the closet doors outside the Main Office, where they can ‘vote’ for their favorite beard by adding their donations to numbered jars that match each participant.”
Students and staff are invited to join in on Mustache Monday (Nov. 25), a school-wide event where they can support the beard-growers. For a $1 donation, students receive a mustache to wear for the day, showing solidarity for BROvember.
