Black History Month T-shirts: Lisha Kill staff member unites Colonie for a good cause
Lisha Kill staff member Jackie McAlmont, has promoted the celebration of Black History Month in her building for years, leading to inspired action across the district. As we approach Black History Month 2025- her fundraising initiative has expanded past the middle and high school levels, growing to include elementary levels as well. As a part of this initiative, McAlmont sells Black History month t-shirts with proceeds going to fund education efforts in Guyana.
This year the theme of Black History month is African American Labor, and its significance in Black history. McAlmont connects this theme to her initiative, explaining, "From the foundational work of enslaved individuals to the contributions of Black labor movements, we aim to honor this legacy with a gesture that invests in the future—educating the next generation."
Purchasing one of these Black History Month t-shirts will help provide essential school supplies, and cover shipping costs to support the students of Hopetown Primary School in Berbice, Guyana, South America. This will ensure that these young learners have the resources they need to succeed.
"Every child deserves access to quality education, and your contribution can make a real difference. With your help, we can ensure that these young minds have the tools they need to build brighter futures. Thank you for your support and generosity," McAlmont concluded.
