Colonie students shine at Regional SkillsUSA Competition

On Wednesday, March 19, South Colonie students showcased their skills at the Capital Region BOCES SkillsUSA competition in Albany. Representing our district, Hunter David secured first place in Welding and Metal Fabrication, earning a spot in the upcoming state competition in Syracuse. Meanwhile, Brice Skiff demonstrated his creativity and technical expertise by achieving third place in the Action Skills category for Pet Tech.
"I am incredibly proud of our students for their outstanding performance at the regional SkillsUSA competition," said Dr. David Perry, Superintendent of Schools. "Hunter and Brice exemplify the high standards of our career and technical education programs. Their achievements not only reflect their individual talent and hard work but also underscore our district’s commitment, along with our valued partnership with BOCES, to preparing students for future success in skilled trades and technology."
Congratulations to both students! Their accomplishments are a testament to the quality of education in our district and the dedication of our teachers, staff, and community partners. We look forward to celebrating their continued success at the state competition and beyond as they pave the way for a bright future in the skilled trades.
