Colonie students participate in Academic WorldQuest Competition
Colonie Central High School students showcased their knowledge in global affairs at the Academic WorldQuest Competition, held at Hudson Valley Community College on Saturday, March 1. This marks the second consecutive year that CCHS has participated in the competition, which tests players’ understanding of current international politics, geography, global economics, history and world cultures.
Despite facing competition from multiple teams representing area schools like Shenendehowa, North Colonie, and Schenectady, Colonie’s team of seniors – Grace Conley, Grace Kahil, Gabriella Kolodziej, and Gosephine Lizzi – demonstrated exceptional skill and determination, securing 5th place.
“Our students have shown an unwavering commitment to understanding and engaging with global issues, dedicating significant time and effort to prepare for this challenging competition,” said Colonie Social Studies teacher Erin Lasky. “The entire Social Studies department is so proud.”
The Academic WorldQuest Competition serves as a platform for students to deepen their understanding of global issues and broaden their perspectives on international relations. By participating in events, students not only enhance their knowledge but also develop critical thinking skills and global awareness that are invaluable in today’s interconnected world.
