CCHS recognized at the 2024 High School Musical Theater Awards
Colonie Central High School’s production of The Wizard of Oz was chosen as Best Musical Tier B at the High School Musical Theatre Awards sponsored by Proctors Collaborative School of the Arts. Colonie was one of 19 area schools competing and one of 9 schools nominated in 3 tiers. Being chosen as a nominee means that the students had the opportunity to perform “The Jitterbug” a creatively choreographed musical number, live on the Proctors stage at the awards ceremony. Each school also has two representatives that perform in the opening and closing numbers of the ceremony and this year’s reps were Delaney Wickham and Cameron Froehlich. All of the student performers had a week of rehearsals that brought them both onstage and backstage of Proctors amazing facility. They created memories that will last a lifetime.
The reception of the award for Best Musical Tier B by CCHS was due to the hard work of the entire Line ‘n Cue drama program - crew, cast and staff. Congratulations go to all of our participating students as well as our creative team of adults: choreographer Christine Meglino, light and sound director Meghan Pannone, tech director John Gehres, fly and costume director Rhiannon Cramer, pit orchestra director Peter Cannistraci, vocal director Lisa Longe, and producer and director Susan Vatalaro.
